SAILING INTO FROZEN MARVELS: COLOMBIA MEETS SVARTISEN GLACIER!

Ahoy, fellow adventurers! It's Maria, the Colombian explorer, reporting live from the icy wonderland of Norway. After our unforgettable time at the Trænafestivalen, we couldn't resist the temptation to set sail and continue our expedition full of unique experiences in Norway. So, with our trusty Jolly, we dropped anchor in front of the mesmerizing Svartisen Glacier.

The perfect anchorage in front of the Svartisen Glacier

Picture this: a vast expanse of shimmering ice stretching out before us, as if nature had crafted its own masterpiece. Being from Colombia, where warmth and greenery reign supreme, this was a privilege beyond words. To think that I had the opportunity to touch a piece of ice that could be older than anything I've ever encountered—mind-boggling!

As we approached the majestic glacier, a sense of reverence washed over us, amplified by the fact that we were literally floating in front of this frozen giant. Our little, Ramoncito, the curious explorer with a nose for adventure, sniffed around the boat, probably wondering what kind of place we had sailed to this time.

Now, here's a little story to chill you to the bone—literally! With a twinkle in our eyes and a playful spirit, we decided to engage in a daring act. We gathered some pristine water from the glacier, raising our glasses in a toast to nature's bounties. Can you imagine the exhilarating sensation of sipping from a source that has been frozen for centuries? It was as if time stood still for that fleeting moment.

But let's not forget the icing on the cake— Our unforgettable lunchtime extravaganza!

Picture this: amidst the frozen magnificence of Svartisen Glacier, we transformed our trusty camping chairs into thrones fit for Arctic royalty. With a touch of humor and a sprinkle of whimsy, we feasted on our scrumptious meal, our taste buds dancing with delight. Who needs fancy restaurants when you have glacier views and the laughter of good friends to accompany your bites? It was a culinary escapade like no other, where our camping chairs became thrones, and our lunch turned into a hilarious feast fit for ice-loving adventurers.

Now, let me share some captivating insights with you instead of mere knowledge nuggets.

Did you know that Svartisen Glacier is Norway's second-largest glacier, spanning an impressive 370 square kilometers? To put it in perspective, that's roughly equivalent to the size of 52,000 football fields! Imagine navigating through this frozen labyrinth, surrounded by pure white beauty that stretches as far as the eye can see.

Oh, and here's a fascinating tidbit to tickle your wanderlust: Svartisen translates to "the black ice" in Norwegian, despite the glacier's glistening appearance. Isn't it amusing how language can play tricks on us? It's yet another reminder of the intriguing surprises that await us as we explore the world.

The first picture is from the glacier in 1900 and the other 2 are from 1920. The glacier was already shrinking! Can you notice it?

Dear readers, I believe you should join us on our sailing adventure, where we can embark on a voyage of discovery and witness the unmatched beauty that Norway’s nature has to offer together. Imagine the thrill of sailing through crystal-clear waters, with this icy marvel as our awe-inspiring backdrop. It's an invitation to immerse yourself in nature's frozen symphony and create memories that will last a lifetime.

So, grab your jackets, pack your adventurous spirit, and let's set sail to the enchanting realm of the Svartisen Glacier and northern Norway. Prepare to be mesmerized, captivated, and filled with a sense of wonder that only nature's frozen miracles can evoke. This is a truly unique experience in Norway!

Until our next nautical escapade, my fellow explorers, keep chasing your dreams and embracing the extraordinary beauty that lies just beyond the horizon.
