ITINERARY

Day by Day

DAY BY DAY

5.png

This fantastic 3 days journey starts around 10 am in Ålesund/Sjøholt.

This is a very easy and accessible place to get either by car or other means of transportation.

After a safety brief we head towards Hellesylt.

This beautiful tiny village lies at the head of Sunnylvsfjord, which is a branch of Storfjord, and also close to the entrance of the more famous Geirangerfjord

This trip will take us approximately 4-5 hrs and we will enjoy our lunch and snack on the way while you can relax on deck, read your book, fill your sd-card with breath taking pictures and prepare for the evenings activity

There is so much fun and nice activities to do here

We can arrange snorkelling in the famous Lygnstøylsvatnet where old infrastructure got submerged from a

huge rock fall from Keipen in 1908.

It's a spectacular place located in the narrowest walleye in Norway and it is a fantastic experience to e-bike through.

In Hellesylt other fun activities such as

kayak or down stream river rafting

can be arranged

None of them requires any special skills and it will also be adapted to the level of the crew

In Hellesylt, it can also be possible to do a cultural heritage stroll in the village.

Hellesylt was an important traffic junction already in the 1700s since the village was strategically located along the inner shipping lane between Bergen and Trondheim.

Our great poets Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson and Henrik Ibsen have both stepped ashore here and Ibsen stayed in the village for a period when he was working on his most famous play "Brand"

Worth to mention that none of this is mandatory and entirely up to you and you can explore Hellesylt your own way if you fancy that.

Dinner will be served on board.

MEETING UP AND STARTING THE JOURNEY

DAY 2

 ARRIVING TO GEIRANGER

Before we enter the Geiranger Fjord we will start our day with a delicious breakfast with home made bread and other goodies.

On the way we will pass huge waterfalls, mountain farms hanging from the cliffs, breath taking landscape and sail through all the spectacular scenery Geiranger Fjord is known for.

Relaxing on deck cruising along the world heritage is a huge "CHECK" on the bucket list and it's definitely an exclusive experience of it's own.

Let's take advantage of the endless hours of summer light to discover Geiranger.

There are different alternatives to start the discovering of Geiranger.

And after we finish the chosen activities,

We'll gather back in the boat and get ready to walk up to a beautiful hillside restaurant where we will enjoy a delicious, authentic short range farm produced dinner in probably

one of the most epic scenery the world has to offer.

A true Norwegian experience.

DAY - 3

OUR LAST ADVENTURE

After our breakfast,  Le Grand Explore Geiranger will continue.

We start by taking a quick ride in our dinghy to the drop off and the start of the path up towards Skageflå.

Originally this path was of no means as well secured as today. By 1855 a ledge was carved out of the rock face and before that a ladder was needed to reach the farm.

The story says that before the path was carved out of the rock, the farmer made sure that the ladder was removed every time the tax collector was around. Resulting in that the authority had to turn around empty handed without any taxes collected from Skageflå.

Once we reach the farm we will enjoy a packed lunch and either hike over the mountain towards Homlong where you will be picked up with the dinghy again and taken back to Jolly.

This hike will take approximately 3-4 hrs.

Alternatively you can be picked up and taken back to Jolly in the dingy and explore other parts of Geiranger by yourself.

Our trip ends here in Geiranger.

There are easy accessible transport towards Ålesund, Oslo, Bergen

Remember to book in advance.

Accommodation

Jolly  is a 49-foot large steel cruiser. This Dutch-built boat has a unique, strong and spacious design that makes her comfortable to sail and enjoy time on. The boat is amply equipped and has spacious outdoor areas. To read more about Jolly, please check this link.

Baggage

Due to limited space in Jolly, we would love you if you bring one piece of luggage in a foldable duffel bag. The west coast can have some rain, so bring your rain gear.  We strongly recommend you to bring a day pack to use for water, food, camera and layers on hikes and trips outside Jolly. Quite boring to carry this in a regular plastic bag.
